One of the two survivors of the bombing of the MOVE house on Osage Avenue in West Philadelphia has died. Michael Moses Ward, a.k.a. “Birdie Africa,” was found unresponsive in a hot tub aboard the cruise ship “Carnival Dream” last Friday. He was 41. His death is not believed to be suspicious but autopsy results are still pending. Ward was the only child in the radical organization's house to survive an explosion and fire after Philadelphia police dropped C4 on the roof during an intense siege on May 13, 1985. He was 13 years old and lived there with his mother, “Rhonda Africa”. Ramona Africa was the only other survivor. Afterwards Ward moved to Montgomery County with his biological father and graduated North Penn High School. He served in the military, is divorced, and survived by two children.

DNA evidence has linked the skeletal remains of a foot inside of a sneaker that washed up in Ocean City, NJ to a Philadelphia woman who has been missing for a year. 22-year-old Franchesca "Cheka" Alvarado has been missing since March 2012. The high top shoe was found by a fisherman at Corson's Inlet State Park in early August. Authorities have notified the family that they are tentatively identifying the foot as Alvarado's. She was last seen going to Atlantic City with a friend. The friend says once there they split up and he returned alone.

It has been over 3 weeks but Dietz & Watson officials say that the last of the rotting deli meat has been removed from the fire ravaged warehouse in Delanco, NJ. Crews hauled out more that 300 truckloads each carrying 20 tons of rotted meat and debris to area landfills. Residents should be glad to know that it is all now gone from the five-football-field long facility as the smell of all that product was putrid. BioTriad Environmental, Inc. was hired to help cut the stench using a neutralizing solution. The entire removal job only took 2 weeks instead of anticipated 8 weeks according to Burlington County Freeholder Director Joe Donnelly.
