Ambulance Carjacked w/ Patient on 76; $20k Reward Chester RiteAid; Dietz Watson Fire Odor Solution

An ambulance was carjacked this afternoon on I-76 that was transporting a patient. It happened around 3:00pm near the Girard Ave exit of the Schuylkill Expressway. A man hijacked the ambulance while it was traveling westbound forcing the crew out with a gun. Police began to pursue the ambulance until it became disabled near City Line Ave where the suspect pulled over and began to run. He was then apprehended. The female patient was transported to Roxborough Hospital.

There is now a $20,000 reward being offered for information that leads to an arrest and conviction after the manager of a Rite Aid was shot dead in Chester Thursday night. It happened after 10:00pm at the Rite Aid at 9th and Highland. Two suspects walked into the store and got into an argument with the manager, Jason Scott McClay of Broomall. Then one of the suspects shot him in the head. The two were caught on surveillance. The woman was wearing a red hoodie with white stripes down the sleeves, blue jeans and gray sneakers. The man was wearing a white V-neck shirt over a black long-sleeve top, rolled up blue jeans and black boots. The Rite Aid Corporation with Purdue Pharma conjunction with the Citizens Crime Commission is offering the reward. The Dietz & Watson distribution center warehouse in Delanco, NJ was destroyed in a massive fire back on September 1st. It took 24 hours to control the blaze and firefighters had to return numerous times to put out flare ups and hot spots. In the three weeks since the fire they have trucked out some 20 tons of rotting meat and debris to landfills from the five-football-field sized center, but the stench of the decaying meat has now overcome the neighboring towns. Dietz & Watson has announced it has contracted BioTriad Environmental ,Inc.of Stroudsburg, PA, to control the odor. They will spray the site with a solution that will noticably neutralize the putrid smell given off by the rotting lunch meats. Officials say that the smell, though horid, is not toxic. There is no timetable for completion of cleanup, but they plan to rebuild.
