Ross Township Monroe County Municipal Building Shooting, I-295 Van Crash, PA LCB Record Profits

Authorities say 3 people are dead after a shooting during a monthly meeting at a municipal building in Ross Township, Monroe County Monday night. Monroe County emergency management director Guy Miller says the shooting happened Monday evening during Ross township's regular monthly meeting. He says the gunman has been captured and is in state police custody. The gunman armed with a long gun shot at the building and continued to shoot as he walked inside. After the first rounds of shots, the gunman returned to his vehicle before coming back with a handgun. He was eventually tackled by two individuals before authorities arrived. According to Monroe County officials, three people are dead and 2 others were wounded. The gunman was shot by an official while being tackled.

The gunman has been identified as 59-year-old Rockney Warren Newell who has had an ongoing dispute with the municipal council about a long condemned property in Sailorsburg.

Police say two adults and 12 children were injured after a passenger van overturned on I-295 Monday afternoon near mile marker 47 in Burlington Township. A passenger van with 15 people inside lost control and turned into the center median. Two adults and 12 children suffered minor injuries. They were all taken to Virtua Memorial Hospital in Mount Holly. State Police say the van is owned by the city of Trentonâ€™s Department of Recreation and was driving to Trenton when the accident happened.

The Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board said Monday it enjoyed record profits in the last fiscal year, a time when special interests were spending millions to advance or derail efforts to privatize liquor and wines sales after 80 years of state control. Robust sales and cost controls generated net income of $128.4 million in the year that ended June 30. Revenue from the more than 600 state stores reached nearly $2.2 billion for the year, a 4.5 increase that the board said is also a record.
