Montgomery Co. Same-Sex Marriage License; Teens Missing Neshamininy Creek; Casino Can Weigh Servers

Montgomery County Register of Wills D. Bruce Hanes announced on Tuesday that he would issue marriage licenses to anyone who asked, straight, lesbian or gay. This would be in direct conflict with the current law in Pennsylvania which defines marriage as only between a man and woman. Hanes believes the law unconstitutional and would not deny the licenses to gay and lesbian couples. Today, Alicia Terrizzi, 45, and Loreen Bloodgood, 40, were first in line. They took their license and had a ceremony outside in a park along with their two sons, administered by a nondenominational minister. The license was immediately filed. Time will tell how it is handled. Courts have voided licenses issued by rogue officials when the state law is against same sex marriage.

Rescue Crews are searching for two teenagers who got swept away in the Neshaminy Creek in Bensalem last night. They have been identified as Dan Tadrzynski, 18, and Perry Krewson, 19, both of Bensalem. They graduated from Bensalem High School this past spring. The two boys were swimming near the Neshaminy Falls train station at about 10:30pm when they got caught up in the fast moving creek. A third teenager was able to swim to shore. Search efforts are being supported by Bucks County agencies, the Coast Guard, Philadelphia marine units, and a Virginia team in town to train. Family is holding hope they will be found alive, but this becomes more of a recovery mission as time passes.

A state judge in New Jersey ruled that an Atlantic City casino can control how much it's cocktail servers gain in weight. The casino in question is the Borgata Hotel Casino and Spa. The judge said it's rules are reasonable. The case was brought by 22 servers, known as the â€œBorgata Babes,â€ claiming that the casino only imposed the rule on female employees. The judge said that it would be considered sexist if the policy only targeting female servers or punished a trait in one sex and not the other but he did see that was evident. The exact rule in question says that servers cannot gain more than 7% of their weight from when they were hired.
