As the Rolling Stones get set for the first of two shows here in Philadelphia Tuesday night, a local choir was rehearsing for their big part in the production. All 24 members of The Crossing were practicing Monday night, You can't always get what you want. The choir sounds great, even though they do very beautiful, but very complex - what they would call post-modern contemporary music

Police are investigating after a 40-year-old man was found stabbed multiple times Monday night on the 6200 block of Eastwick Avenue in Southwest Philadelphia. The victim was taken to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. He is listed in critical condition. Authorities say a weapon has not been recovered. There is no word on an arrest or motive at this time.

New Jersey lawmakers approved a bill Monday that would allow those in the country illegally to qualify for in-state tuition rates at state colleges and universities. Dozens of students and supporters packed the state Assembly Budget Committee to argue the measure would allow for those here illegally to qualify for an affordable higher education. If it becomes law, the measure would take effect in the fall semester. It also allows for community colleges to charge those here illegally the in-county rate. To be eligible, a student must have attended a New Jersey high school for at least three years and have a diploma from a state high school or the equivalent. Students also must submit an affidavit stating they’ve filed or will file an application to legalize their status as soon as they are eligible.
