Wesley Snipes Released From Prison; Seton Hill Lacrosse Cancels Games

Actor Wesley Snipes was released from Federal prison in Pennsylvania on Tuesday. Snipes was convicted in 2008 on tax charges. He entered the medium-security McKean federal prison in northwest PA back in December 2010 to serve a three-year sentence for failure to file income tax returns. He served 28 out of the 36 months on his sentence. Snipes belonged to a group that challenged the federal government's right to collect taxes. He did not pay taxes or file returns for at least a decade and owed millions of dollars. He was released to the New York Community Corrections Office and will be overseen until July 19. Snipes appeared in dozens of films including "White Men Can't Jump" and "Demolition Man" and the vampire trilogy "Blade".

The Seton Hill University Women's Lacrosse team announced today the cancelation of the rest of this year's schedule of games. This comes after a bus crash last month that killed their pregnant coach. The university's website says that the decision was made out of "concern for the physical health and emotional well being of our student-athletes." The March 16 crash occurred on the Pennsylvania Turnpike while the bus was carrying 23 players and coaches to a game at Millersville University. 30-year-old coach Kristina Quigley, her unborn child and the bus driver, 61-year-old Johnstown resident Anthony Guaetta were killed in the accident.
