Philadelphia Police are searching for a suspect who was caught on surveillance tape stealing used tires and jacks worth $1600. The theft occurred on Friday March 29th at around 10:15 pm. It occurred at the Hunting Park Tire Shop located at 440 East Hunting Park Avenue. The man hopped over the fence and into the shop's yard. He threw several used tires and jacks over the fence and then took off in an unknown direction. The whole incident was caught on video. The suspect is described as a white or Hispanic male between 20 and 30-years-old. He was wearing a dark jump suit with a hooded sweatshirt underneath. Anyone with information is urged to call 911 or 215.686.TIPS (8477).

Last year on April Fool's Day the Philadelphia Streets Department jokingly painted a fake “texting-while-walking” lane and hung signs as a reminder to pedestrians to pay attention and watch where they were going between the sidewalks and traffic. This year they continued their antics to remind the public about safety on and near the roads. Clowns and mimes roamed the area near City Hall scolding drivers and pedestrians alike who ignored traffic or safety laws. It's not always a laughing matter, each year about three dozen pedestrians are killed in Philadelphia. Today though we can have a little fun while being reminded to look both ways before we cross, or to yield to those in a crosswalk.

U.S. Sen. Bob Casey now says he supports gay marriage. The Pennsylvania Democrat announced his change of position on Monday he says after reviewing the legal, public policy and civil rights questions involved. During his re-election campaign this past November, Casey said he favored civil unions but did not mention marriage. His voting record has been pro-gay; voting to allow open service in the military and to repeal “Don't Ask, Don't Tell.” Casey, a Roman Catholic from Scranton, joins several other Democratic Senators to recently announce they favor gay marriage.
