Schuylkill River Car Plunge, Germantown Dog Fighting, Port Richmond Hit and Run Arrest

A car plunges into the Schuylkill River, and police say two Good Samaritans risked their own lives to help. The river crash happened on Kelly Drive near Boat House Row Tuesday afternoon. Police say they don't know what caused the 73-year-old driver to lose control. Divers did eventually pull the driver out of the water but he could not be revived.

Police in Philadelphia are investigating an apparent dogfighting ring in the Germantown neighborhood of the city. One dog removed from the home had open wounds to its chest, though the six other dogs did not appear to have obvious injuries. Investigators also say that drugs and a stolen motorcycle were found at the home. One person was taken into custody and is expected to be charged accordingly.

Police have made an arrest in a two-year-old hit and run that happened in the cityâ€™s Port Richmond section. April 2011, William McCue was struck while crossing Richmond Street on his way home. He was pronounced dead at the scene. The striking vehicle fled the scene. Robert Sickman was the driver and surrendered to police yesterday. He has been charged with Accident Involving Death and D.U.I.
