A suspect has been charged with the murder of CHOP Dr. Melissa Ketunuti. 36 year old Jason Smith of Levittown was taken into custody for questioning last night and later charged in the strangulation and burning murder of Ketunuti in her Center City home. Surveillance video gave Philadelphia Police enough evidence to get a warrant for the Bucks County man and his silver Ford F150 truck. Smith has been working as an exterminator in Ketunuti’s neighborhood and is believed to have followed her home.

UPDATE: Smith has confessed to the crime to investigators giving them a statement. He had been called to Ketunuti's home to perform extermination work. An argument ensued inside her home during which he attacked her. Smith then bound and strangled the CHOP pediatrician before setting her on fire to hide the evidence. Smith has been charged with murder, abuse of corpse, arson and risking a catastrophe.

A senior at the University of Pennsylvania has died from injuries sustained from a fall from a frat house window. Thomas J. Hartford from Stroudsburg, PA was found in a pool of blood on the concrete outside the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity house after midnight January 10th. A former frat member, he had attended a social function that evening and fell from a height of 15 to 20 feet. The university and Hartford’s family view it as a tragic accident.

The coldest weather of Winter is here and temperatures tonight in the Philadelphia area are expected to drop even lower than last night. Measurable snow is also in the forecast. Look for snow to begin Friday afternoon and continue off and on through Saturday. The ground is frozen and the snow will accumulate several inches before the system moves away.
