A three alarm blaze in Millville, NJ engulfed the In His Presence Worship Center on East Broad Street in Cumberland County. Firefighters were called to the scene shortly before noon. The steeple collapsed down into the sanctuary as the roof went up in flames. It took nearly 3 hours for the six fires crews to get the fire under control. The windy weather today did not help matters and may have played a factor in causing the fire. About 2,000 Atlantic Electric customers lost power because of the fire. Crews were waiting until firemen finished their job before they could make repairs and restore service. No one was hurt. The 15 people inside preparing for Christmas were warned and escaped danger.

The parent's of the Charles Carroll High School student who was ridiculed earlier this school year in September by one of her teachers for wearing a pink “Romney/Ryan” t-shirt is suing the teacher and the Philadelphia School District for violating her civil rights. The lawsuit claims that the 16-year-old sophomore, Samantha Pawlucy, had worn the shirt all day without incident until she entered the classroom of geometry teacher Lynette Gaymon. Gaymon allegedly told the teenager that the school was a “Democratic” school and asked if her parent's were Republican. Pawlucy responded that she did not know. Gaymon said, “That's like wearing a KKK shirt." She told her to take it off and she had another shirt if needed. Gaymon had another student try to draw an “X” over the candidates' names. After the incident Pawlucy received ongoing threats and harassment and was unable to return to school. Her parents are trying to enroll her in a private school.

The inventor of magicJack has given back to his alma mater in honor of the Stony Brook Elementary victims. Daniel Borislow donated $500,000 to fund three full scholarships at Widener University for siblings or dependents of victims of the Newtown, CT shooting last week. Widener University announced that it would fund a fourth scholarship and cover room and board for all of those scholarships. Borislow hopes that other CEO's and business leaders would be inspired to set up scholarships at their alma maters for the victims and their families. The four scholarships at Widener will be available for the next 20 years and will cover all costs over the student's 4 years.
