Frankford Rail Service Restored; Fishtown Water Main; Paulsboro Cleanup; SEPTA Teen Vandalism

Rail service for SEPTA and Amtrak has been restored after a four-alarm fire in Frankford shut down some of their lines. The fire broke Sunday morning around 6:30 on the 2200 block of Wakeling Street. "The building is a one-story property - Arco Sales Company is the name of it. It's a machine shop. It does metal working and light industrial. It was totally consumed in the fire," said Capt. Michael Richey. Residents in the adjacent twin home were evacuated and service was suspended on SEPTA, Amtrak and Conrail for almonst three hours. No word on what caused the blaze.

Crews are working to fix a 10 inch water main break in Fishtown. The ruptured occurred around midnight last night at the intersection of East Girard and East Montgomery avenues flooding the streets. Around 10 homes are without water. PWD hopes to have water restored by Sunday afternoon or early evening. Girard Avenue is also shut down from Susquehanna Avenue to Palmer Street while crews work on the water main.

The last car has been removed from the wreckage of the Paulsboro train derailment, officials said on Sunday. The accident that occurred on November 30th leaked hazardous vinyl chloride into the air and prompted evacuations of residential areas. The focus now turns to the inspection and repair of the swing bridge over the Mantua Creek. The Federal Railroad Administration (FRA) will inspect the bridge before any trains are allowed to cross.

Police are investigating vandalism on two SEPTA buses in the Mayfair section of Philadelphia last night. It happened last night around 10:30 pm on the 7100 block of Roosevelt Boulevard. The Route 14 bus was traveling south and stopped to pick up passengers. A group of teenagers approached that bus as well as the Route 50 bus and began to throw rocks. Several windows were broken and the body was damaged. No passengers or drivers were injured. The teens fled on foot. SEPTA officials are checking bus surveillance cameras for footage. Police are investigating but no arrests have been made.
