Evacuation Extended in Paulsboro; Electric Factory Show Cancelled After OD's; Man Stabbed in Ventnor

About 100 residents living within a 12 block radius of the train derailment in Paulsboro will not be allowed back to their homes until at least Saturday, December 8th. They are staying at area hotels or with family and friends. The ruptured tanker containing the hazardous vinyl chloride is still sitting in the water, officials started to remove the now solidified chemicals on Sunday night. The cleanup is expected to take several days and be a delicate process. A large crane has been brought in from New York. The NTSB can't examine the actual accident site until the cleanup is completed but they have begun reviewing the 2009 derailment on the same bridge as well as previously reported signal problems. The bridge itself lies very low and swings open like a gate to allow boat traffic. It then locks back into place for trains to cross. At least 3 heavy freight trains cross each day carrying industrial loads to and from area factories and refineries. The signaling system tells the train operator if the bridge has closed. On Friday morning the Conrail conductor was surprised to see a red light. After a visual inspection and three failed attempts to key in the code to get a green light, they got the go ahead from dispatch to cross. The NTSB will focus on the latching system to see if perhaps the bridge was not all the way closed. Conrail crews even studied the reported signal problems with the bridge the day before the derailment.

The all ages show at the Electric Factory for electronic/dubstep band Zeds Dead was shut down Saturday night after several attendees had to be taken away by medics for experiencing overdoses. According to reports from social media and dispatchers, four concertgoers were taken to various area hospitals. They ranged in ages 15-25. They are all reported as being in stable condition. No word on the specific drug that caused the overdoses. Police were first called to the Electric Factory located on 7th St between Callowhill and Spring Garden at 8pm, while medics responded several times between 8 and 10 pm. Electric Factory Concerts tweeted, "In regards to Sat.s show, we are working on a solution and will have a definitive answer Monday. Please stayed tuned." This will be in regards to either a rescheduling of the cancelled show or a refund of tickets. Zeds Dead did perform later Saturday night at LiT Ultrabar in Old City which is 21+.

UPDATE:
Electric Factory released this statement on Monday regarding the show: "The Zeds Dead show that was scheduled to play Saturday, December 1st at Electric Factory has been cancelled, unfortunately scheduling conflicts do not allow us to reschedule this date and all tickets are refundable at point of purchase. We apologize for any inconvenience." See Facebook post.

Police are investigating the fatal stabbing of a Millville, NJ man. Around noon on Sunday, police were called to the 300 block of North Wissahickon Avenue in Ventnor, NJ. They found a man that had suffered a stab wound. He was transferred to AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead shortly after. The victim's identity is being withheld pending notification of family. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office Major Crimes Unit and the Ventnor City Police Department are investigating this homicide.
