Police are investigating a double shooting in the Wynnefield section of the city last night near 54th and Berks streets.
One of the men who was shot drove himself to Presbyterian hospital. The second man, who was shot in the face, is in critical condition at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania.
Authorities are investigating whether the two men were shooting at each other.

The Philadelphia Orchestra is out of Chapter 11 bankruptcy. A month after a U.S. Bankruptcy Court judge approved its reorganization plan, The Philadelphia Orchestra Association announced Tuesday it has officially emerged from Chapter 11. The POA addressed more than $100 million in claims, debts and liabilities with a settlement of $5.49 million, a statement from the association and its subsidiary, the Academy of Music, said. Of the total, $4.25 million will be paid according to an agreed-upon schedule, the statement said. The rest will be distributed according to a multi-year plan. The orchestra stunned the arts community when it became the first major U.S. orchestra to file for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection in April 2011. Under the reorganization plan, the 111-year-old symphony will shrink from 105 musicians to 95 and cut their pay by about 15 percent.

A nonprofit, nonpartisan think tank created a first-of-its-kind, data-driven index identifying its best cities for successful aging in the country. The Milken Institute looked at 359 metropolitan areas. Seventy-eight factors affecting senior citizens were analyzed including health care, crime rates, jobs, housing and transportation. Philadelphia ranked 16th. The hopes are the report sparks regional competition when it to comes to the understanding and needs of today’s aging Americans.
