Philadelphia Police are searching for two suspects wanted in a brazen attempted robbery at a fast food restaurant last month. It happened around 8:20 p.m. Dec. 28 at the Checkers drive-thru on the 3500 block of Aramingo Avenue in Port Richmond. The incident was caught on surveillance video. A dark sedan, possibly a grey Toyota Corolla, placed an order and pulled up to the takeout window. The rear driver-side window was lined up with the cashier window during the transaction. When the cashier hands the passenger the receipt, he points a gun at her, grabs her wrist, and pulls. She is able to break free and run away into the restaurant. The driver of the sedan then gets out. He is also armed with a handgun. He leans through the window and tries to gain access to the register. He fails to open the register and gets back in the car and drives away. If you have any information, contact Philadelphia police at 215-685-9854 or 215-686-3243.

The first case of a new variant of coronavirus COVID-19 has been detected in Pennsylvania. Secretary of Health Dr. Rachel Levine says the confirmed case of SARS-CoV-2 B.1.1.7 is in Dauphin County. The individual who tested positive had international exposure. This strain, which was first detected in the UK in December, is thought to be more contagious but not more virulent or deadly than the usual strain.

The first COVID-19 mass vaccination site in Philadelphia has opened at the Pennsylvania Convention Center. The site was launched by Philly Fighting COVID and the Philadelphia Department of Health. Currently, city health care workers are being inoculated at the site, especially those not affiliated with a large institution such as a hospital. Organizers hope to vaccinate 15,000 health care workers at the site before moving on the other priority groups like essential workers.

Wawa opened its first ever drive-thru only location on Friday morning, 1/8, in Falls Township, Bucks County. The stand alone store is located at 549 W. Trenton Avenue and will be open 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily. The location is for vehicle pickup only, you cannot enter the store. Customers can order from a limited menu offering breakfast, lunch, and dinner options including combo meals. There are some other Wawa favorites available. The first drive-thru was opened last month attached to an existing store on Rancocas Road in Westampton, NJ. The pickup windows allow customers to stay in their cars and increases safety.
