| Gov Wolf Won't Close Schools This Fall; North Coventry Community Donations; No Mask Attacks/Shooting |

Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf dispelled rumors that his administration would be shutting down schools statewide this fall as the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic continues. "There are widespread rumors that I will soon be announcing a statewide school building closure or cancelling classes this fall. I want to be clear: I am not closing school buildings or cancelling classes," Wolf said. School districts are being left to make their own back-to-school plans using guidance from state health and education departments. Many schools have already announced plans to fully reopen, go all-digital, or implement a hybrid model. The Philadelphia School Board voted on Thursday, 7/31, to open with an all-digital model. The Archdiocese of Philadelphia is using a hybrid model for high schools and an in-person model for elementary schools. Virtual options are available.
Around 125 people were left without a home or belongings after a devastating fire destroyed the Ashwood Apartments on the 700 block of Worth Boulevard in North Coventry Township on Thursday night, 7/31. Donations have been pouring in to help those who lost everything in the fire. The North Coventry Volunteer Fire Department quickly turned into a donation center. The community stepped up and gifted clothes, shoes, toys, baby supplies, toiletries, gift cards, non-perishable food and more. They had to stop accepting donations by the afternoon because they ran out of space. The donation center will be open from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The Red Cross is providing temporary housing for those that were displaced. Open Hearth is collecting financial donations to help the families with housing costs such as hotels or new rentals. http://donorbox.org/norco.

Incidents between store employees and customers and also between members of the public themselves over the use of face masks continue as new daily cases of coronavirus COVID-19 climb. Two recent cases involve shocking violence.
On Wednesday, 7/29, at a Staples store in Hackensack, NJ, a 54-year-old woman was attacked after she asked another woman to put on her mask. It happened around 3:30 p.m. They were both using copy/fax machines near each other. The suspect was wearing a mask pulled down around her chin. The victim, who has recently had a liver transplant, asked the woman to pull up her mask. The suspect became angry, started yelling, and approached the victim. The victim tried to use her cane to distance herself from the suspect, but the angry woman grabbed her and threw her to the ground. The suspect then walked out of the store. The victim suffered a broken leg and was taken to the hospital. Police are searching for the suspect.
On Friday, 7/31, at a cigar store in Bethlehem, PA, a customer shot at an employee after being asked to wear a mask. It happened at Cigars International on Nazareth Pike. The suspect came in to the store and was told about the mask policy by the clerk. The clerk said he could bring the cigars to the man outside. The man became upset and fled the store with the cigars. The clerk followed him outside into the parking lot. That's when the suspect fired two shots towards the clerk and another in the air before fleeing in a pickup truck. No one was struck by the shots. Police have identified the suspect and are preparing to make an arrest.
UPDATE: An arrest warrant has been issued for Adam Zaborowski. He faces charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault, robbery, and persons prohibited to possess a firearm. He fled the scene in a blue Dodge Dakota pickup truck with Pennsylvania tags ZLY6443. He is considered armed and dangerous. If you have any information on his whereabouts, call 911.
