Margate's Lucy the Elephant will be available to rent on Airbnb for three nights only this March 17, 18, and 19. The one-night stays will become available on March 5th at noon and cost $138. The 138-year-old wooden elephant has stood at the edge of the Jersey Shore since the Victorian Era entertaining special guests and tourists for generations. Lucky bookers will sleep in the grand bed in the heart of the 6-story landmark. Airbnb will be making a donation to the Save Lucy Committee which maintains the National Historic Landmark. A New Jersey couple claimed that a Catholic church in Jackson, Ocean County, informed them that their autistic non-verbal son would not be able to receive his First Communion or First Penance this year along with his classmates. Nicole and Jimmy LaCugna say St. Aloysius told them that because of 8-year-old Anthony's disability he was not up to the "benchmark required" to make his sacraments. According to St. Aloysius, "The original guidelines we followed state that a child must have a basic rudimentary simple understanding of Right and Wrong to receive First Reconciliation. For First Communion, again at a simple, basic, rudimentary level, the child has to be able to distinguish ordinary bread from the Body of Christ."

However, in response to the outpouring of support of Anthony and his family, the parish and Diocese of Trenton reevaluated their position. First, "The Code of Canon Law clearly states a Catholic has the Right to the Sacraments and cannot be denied the sacraments as long as they are properly prepared and disposed to reception of the Sacraments." Second, "The Parishes have the duty to ensure the individuals are prepared, understand, ready and able to receive the Sacraments." Third, "we have been researching how we could best assist the most profoundly disabled in a better way. New information has come to light which allows us to by-pass previous Diocesan Guidelines to better serve this subset population." Fourth, "New information has shed light on ways to further adapt our preparations and reception for children with severe cognitive and developmental issues... which will allow the reception of these sacraments."

Four children were injured when a car crashed into a day care center in Upper Southampton Township, Bucks County, on Thursday afternoon, 2/27. It happened at 1:30 p.m. at the Children of America day care at 345 Knowles Avenue. The children were taken to Abington Hospital. One is listed in critical condition and was taken to Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. The female driver from Philadelphia was taken to St. Mary's Medical Center. Police are investigating the cause of the crash.

UPDATE: The driver was at the day care to make a delivery. She does not speak English, but is cooperating with authorities. The children were 3-4-years-old. There were 17 children sleeping in the room at the time.
