| 5 Dead in Bucks Apartment, 2 Charged; Starbucks in Dilworth Park; Swatting in Delco; NJ Trafficking |

Bucks County authorities have taken a mother and daughter into custody after five people were found dead in an apartment on Monday evening, 2/25. Crews responded around 5:30 p.m. to the Robert Morris Apartments on the 200 block of West Bridge Street in Morrisville, PA, to perform a welfare check. 5 dead bodies were found inside. Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub says that a mother and daughter, 45-year-old Shana S. Decree and 19-year-old Dominique Decree, were arrested after initially being taken to the hospital. One was unconscious and the other was seizing when found. The victims have been identified as Shana's children 25-year-old Naa'Irah Smith and 13-year-old Damon Decree Jr. both of Morrisville, Shana's sister 42-year-old Jamilla Campbell of Trenton her 9-year-old twins Imani and Erika Allen. Police are looking for 17-year-old Joshua Campbell, who is not a suspect, they are concerned for his well being. The Bucks County District Attorney's office, Morrisville Borough Police, and county detectives are on the scene investigating. The cause of death has not been determined. They are each charged with 5 counts of homicide and 1 count of conspiracy.
There's new controversy surrounding a Starbucks in Philadelphia and this coffee shop doesn't even exist yet. The non-profit Center City District (CCD) that manages Dilworth Park on the westside of City Hall, announced last week that a new coffee kiosk will be constructed on the southwest corner. The 620-square-foot structure will be managed by Dilworth Café operator, Brûlée Catering, and branded as a Starbucks. The revenue helps fund the maintenance of the park. The outcry against the project grew when the fences went up around the area, pointed out by Streets Dept blog. Basically, C'mon a Starbucks? This is a public park? Also, coffee? There's a La Colombe directly across the street (a Philadelphia company), Dilworth Cafe on the other side of the park, an actual Starbucks a block away, a Dunkin Donuts around the corner, etc. There are many other ways that the space could be utilized for the public good, either with a park fixture (benches, playground, art) or revenue maker (some non-coffee kiosk).
Police in Delaware County are investigating after a series of threatening phone calls turned out to just be another swatting hoax. Before 1 p.m. Sunday, 2/24, 911 dispatchers received a call from an untraceable number. The person claimed they had stabbed a woman inside a building on the 600 block of Upland Avenue in Upland. Ten minutes later, the same subject called back saying if anyone entered the building they'd detonate two pipe bombs. The calls prompted Upland Police to respond along with SWAT teams and the bomb squad. The entire community was on edge as authorities locked down the neighborhood for hours and braced for a standoff. "When we entered, everything was fine," Upland police chief Mike Irey said. "There was no other persons in the building. There was no crime scene. Particularly as far as bombs or the reported deceased body." "It's a waste of many, many resources but it's a shame the people in this area were not able to go to their homes," Irey said.
A man in Atlantic County, NJ, is facing human trafficking charges for holding three women captive and forcing them into prostitution. 36-year-old El Joshua of Mays Landing is charged with multiple counts of human trafficking, criminal restraint, and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. The Atlantic County Prosecutor's Office says that Joshua held the three women captive for some time and forced them into prostitution and domestic servitude. He used violence, threats of violence, coercion, and the provision of heroin to control the women. The authorities were alerted to the situation after one woman managed to escape through a window and told officials. |
