Five members of a Bucks County family and two others have been charged with defrauding insurance companies of over $20 million. The investigation into the Risoldi family began after an October 2013 fire at 67-year-old Claire Risoldi's home in New Hope that she called 'Claremont.' (pictured below) That was the third fire at the home in the past 5 years. The Risoldi's filed insurance claims on the other fires and were paid $20 million. They were seeking $20 million more for this third fire and $10 million in jewelry she said was stolen by firefighters. The grand jury found that the family had a 20-30 year pattern of filing "questionable" insurance claims. They also found that although the cause of each fire was 'undetermined' there were large piles of flammable material found near the points of origins. $7 million is assets have been seized from banks accounts, jewelry, and a dozen high end cars. They have been arraigned and released after posting bail. Look at the list of those arrested and their charges below.
A former Philadelphia homicide detective has been charged with numerous crimes after he allegedly helped his girlfriend cover up and flee a murder in 2013. Ronald Dove, a 16-year veteran of the force, has been charged with hindering apprehension, obstructing justice, tampering with evidence, falsification, flight to avoid apprehension, and criminal conspiracy. His girlfriend, Erica Sanchez, has been accused of stabbing her ex-husband in September 2013. Instead of performing like a police officer, Dove drove Sanchez to Rochester, NY and put her up in a Holiday Inn. He then cleaned her car and stashed it away. Dove's lawyer Brian McMonagle said, "I can tell you that Ron never thought that he was trying to helping a criminal. He was trying to protect a person who had been the victim of domestic violence and who acted in self-defense." Regardless, Dove failed to give information to his colleagues who were investigating the murder.

The Pennsylvania Supreme Court has temporarily blocked the Montgomery County DA from acting on a grand jury's recommendation for charges against the state's attorney general. A spokesman for the court said the block will remain "until further order of the court." The grand jury recommended charges of perjury, false swearing, official oppression and obstruction. PA Attorney General Kathleen Kane has denied any wrongdoing. She is challenging the legality of using a special prosecutor in the investigation into potential grand jury leaks from her office in 2009. The high court will hear her challenge in March.
