Guilty Plea in Autumn Pasquale Case; Upper Darby Baby Kidnapping; Schaible Motion Denied

New Jersey teen Justin Robinson has plead guilty today to luring Autumn Pasquale into his home and killing her last fall in Clayton, NJ. Last October, 12-year-old Autumn was riding her BMX bike to a friend's house when Robinson, then 15, and his then 17-year-old brother, Dante, lured her into their home with the promise of bike parts. They stole her bike and strangled her to death. Her body was found in a recycling bin near their home 2 days later. Justin entered his plea as an adult. The charge in the agreement is aggravated manslaughter and comes with a 17 year sentence. Dante's case is pending in juvenile court.

Police are searching for a 7-month-old baby boy kidnapped from an Upper Darby home on Sunday. Authorities fear the boy may be dead, but still hope they can find him alive. The incident started when 30-year-old Ummad Rushdi, his girlfriend of three weeks, and her infant son, Hamza Ali, went to visit Rushdi's parents in Upper Darby on Sunday night. Rushdi was alone in the room with the boy at 2:30am when something went wrong, possibly the boy died, and he left with the child perhaps disposing the body along Rt. 30. Rushdi's brother told the girlfriend that he was going to Maine with the baby as a ruse to keep her placated but later told the truth that something was wrong. The police were called and Rushdi has been arrested for kidnapping at his residence in York, PA. Authorities are searching areas off Rt. 30 for the body. Charges might escalate to murder.

A Philadelphia judge rejected a defense motion asking to dismiss the most serious charges against faith-healing couple Herbert and Catherine Schaible. Their son, Brandon, died of dehydration and pneumonia this past April. The Schaible's are charged with third-degree murder in the death which was deemed preventable if medical attention was sought. The defense argued that there wasn’t the evidence of malice necessary to support the 3rd degree charge; that the couple held the child, rocked him, and didn't think he was going to die. The prosecution pointed to the couple's previous conviction for manslaughter for the same exact circumstances and the fact they had a standing court order to seek medical attention for illness. The judge agreed with the state.
