The death of an 8-month-old child of a local "faith healing" couple has been ruled a homicide Brandon Schaible died on April 18th. His parent's, Herbert and Catherine Schaible, are fundamentalist Christians who believe in the power of prayer instead of modern medicine. The Medical Examiner found that Brandon died from bacterial pneumonia and dehydration due to a Group B Stretpococcus infection. No charges have been filed. The Schaible's seven other children have been placed in foster care. Previously the couple was sentenced to 10 years probation after their 2-year-old son, Kent, died in 2009 from pneumonia. They were also ordered to take their other children for regular checkups and to the doctor at signs of illness.

A box of ammunition exploded in a man's face this morning in New Castle County, DE. It happened on Van Dyke Drive in New Castle City. Kendra Eggleston had been cleaning out her garage over the weekend and threw away a padlocked ammunition box that belonged to her late husband. Her neighbor, 55-year-old William Hailey, saw the box and asked if could have it. After working the locked box open it suddenly exploded injuring Hailey. He was rushed to Christiana Hospital with shrapnel wounds. The bomb squad from Dover Air Force Base responded to the scene and secured any unexploded material in and around the box. Apparently Eggleston's husband Don, who passed in 1999, had brought the box back with him from Vietnam and it has been in their house since they moved to the area 22 years ago.

This evening, Party Cloudy Temperatures in the upper 70's in Center City.
