A mother and her boyfriend have been charged with the murder of a 5 year old boy in North Philadelphia. Authorities say that 23-year-old Lashay Patterson, and her boyfriend, 25-year-old Christian Patrick beat and burned the boy that led to his death early Saturday morning. Patterson called police to her home at the West Poplar Apartments on the 600 block of North 13th Street. She had found the boy, Dashawn Harris, unresponsive and he was rushed to Hahnemann Hospital, but was pronounced dead around 1:30 am. The death was initially classified as “suspicious” while the medical examiner performed an autopsy, though bruises were seen visible on the boy's body. Patterson and Patrick face murder and several other related charges.

The 17 year old Bucks County Technical School senior who was struck bya car while walking to the bus stop on Wednesday has lost his struggle today. Authorities have confirmed that Ryan Viola has passed away as a result of the injuries sustained in the accident. He was hit by a 54-year-old, Northeast Philadelphia woman Wednesday morning at about 6:30 a.m. at the intersection of Bensalem Boulevard and Port Side Drive in Bensalem, Bucks County. Investigators are trying to piece together what happened at the scene. The driver was driving without a valid driver's license, however the car did have a green light. Viola was crossing the street in the crosswalk to the bus stop but doing so against the red light when he was struck by the vehicle. The driver did stop and no charges are currently being filed. She is cooperating with police saying that it was dark and never saw the teen. Police found a pair of headphones in the crosswalk which may have belonged to Viola and explain why he didn't know a car was coming.

Taylor Swift is coming to Lincoln Financial Field on July 20th, but if you are just finding out now then it's too late. That show sold out in five minutes. Don't fret! The Pennsylvania country crossover superstar has decided to schedule a second date at the Linc. The added concert will be on July 19th. Tickets go on sale on December 7th at 10 a.m. at Ticketmaster. Taylor Swift is touring in support of her latest album, Red, released in October and featuring hits like "I Knew You Were Trouble", "Begin Again”, and the focus of the recent Andy Reid song parody “We Are Never Getting Back Together."
