Thousands Powerless in South Jersey, Delaware Church Burglar Caught, Kingsessing Fire

Throughout Cumberland and Atlantic counties, the damage is severe. Thousands are still without power and some are now homeless. In Vineland, trees have leveled dozens of homes at two trailer parks. For the fortunate, a few generators are running, but most are in to their fourth full day without power in sweltering heat. As of Wednesday late morning 36,000 are still without power.

Philly POPS! on Independece Free Tonight; Excessive Heat Warning Tomorrow-Thursday

Peter Nero and the Philly POPS! will be performing their 10th annual “Pops on Independence” free concert tonight at Independence Hall at 8:00pm. The Pops will perform a variety of American songs from patriotic anthems and marches to big band and Broadway classics. Bring blankets, lawn chairs, and a picnic out to this popular outdoor concert at Independence Hall. Seating is first come, first served.

Drilling Ban in PA, Vacationers Leaving South Jersey, Glassboro Man Arrested for Killing Wife

A ban on drilling in Bucks and Montgomery counties until 2018 has some Marcellus Shale region lawmakers steamed, claiming favoritism. Supporters of the ban claim the ban is only to allow time to more thoroughly study the formation and impact of potential drilling in these areas.

Occupy Philadelphia's National Gathering joined with disgruntled unionized workers from Verizon to protest through Center City streets during rush hour Monday afternoon. Verizon workers have been without a contract for a year and protested outside a corporate office at 11th and Market, where Occupy Philadelphia joined them for a march up to the Comcast Tower and to Senator Pat Toomey’s office. Sunoco Refinery to Remain Open, Atlantic County Still Dark, Former CFO Guzzardi Pleads Guilty

The South Philly Sunoco refinery will remain open after a deal was struck between the Carlyle Group, a Washington, D.C., private equity manager, and Sunoco. The new joint venture will be called Philadelphia Energy Solutions. The refinery was set to close at the end of this month as Sunoco was going to pull out of the refining business altogether. Powerless in South Jersey, Tax Credit Approved for Scholarship Donations, NJ Coast Guard Rescue

Power is still out in many parts of South Jersey. Friday's storms took down trees and wires causing over 200,000 to lose electricity. While the cleanup effort has been non-stop, there are still many without power. With no air conditioning or even power to run a fan, the heat wave is even harder to handle. Many won't get power back until July 6th.

Atlantic County's Office of Emergency Management opened cooling stations throughout the county.

Utility crews were working feverishly to restore electrical service to thousands of customers in southern New Jersey who were still without power late Sunday afternoon, one day after severe thunderstorms socked the region. Officials say it will likely take "several days" before service is fully restored. Atlantic City Electric said about 206,000 customers lost power at the peak of the storms, which hit early Saturday morning. And nearly 122,000 still had no power as of 7 p.m. Sunday. Residents...
