Joe Paterno will move into the crosshairs of the continuing investigation of Penn State’s handling of child abuse incidents involving Jerry Sandusky. Former FBI Director Louis Freeh is leading the probe. It seems Freeh is focused on how much influence Joe Paterno had over University policies and decisions.

A veteran Philadelphia highway patrol officer is dead, after his motorcycle was struck by a wrong-way driver on I-95 northbound early Sunday morning. Officer Brian Lorenzo was 48-years old and a 23-year veteran. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the striking car, John Leck Jr. of Levittown, was supposedly found to be driving under the influence.

The United States Olympic Basketball Team was announced on Saturday night by USA Basketball chairman Jerry Colangelo. The 12-man roster was selected after Olympic Team training sessions held in Las Vegas. Three final spots opened up after injuries in recent months to at least four top American players. Dwight Howard, Derrick Rose, Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh all have had injuries that forced them to withdraw from consideration.

Seven people have been injured after a train accident along the SEPTA Norristown High Speed Line (previously known as the R100 and P&W) in Haverford Friday Night. At around 7:45, a rear car became briefly detached from the one in front of it. The cars then slammed back together and reattached, jolting the train. Coldplay performed another sold out show at the Wells Fargo Center on Friday July 6th on their Mylo Xyloto Tour. They brought the house down again just as they did last night.
Wolfgang opened the show and they were followed by Swedish pop artist Robyn. Robyn played a packed surprise after party last night at club Voyeur into the late night.

A man with a gun disrupted rush hour activity around City Hall this morning. The man was spotted holding a gun and was approached by police. During the standoff, street traffic was diverted and SEPTA trains did not stop at the 15th Street stop under City Hall. The man, in his 20’s, fired a shot at police. They returned fire, wounding the man and apprehended him. No police were hurt.
