The American Idol Finale 2013 occurred on May 16th, 2013 at the Nokia Theatre L.A. live in Los Angeles. 23-year-old vocal powerhouse Candice Glover and soulful 22-year-old country singer Kree Harrison were the top two contestants going head to head for the top prize of becoming the new American Idol for Season 12. A Ventnor, NJ woman has been charged with the murder of her husband who disappeared 6 years ago. Loretta Doyle Burroughs, 61, was arrested for the murder of Daniel Burroughs, 66, on Friday. The cold case was reopened in February when Police were contacted by family members of Daniel Boroughs. Authorities say a homeless man, who became an internet celebrity, was arrested in Philadelphia and charged with a northern New Jersey murder Thursday night. Caleb Lawrence McGillvary was arrested by Philadelphia Police at the Greyhound Bus Terminal. UPDATE:Philadelphia Police have arrested Caleb Lawrence McGillvary, aka Kai, at the Greyhound bus terminal at N. 10th and Filberts Streets in Philadelphia. McGillvary has been charged with the homicide of Joseph Galfy, Jr., which occurred in Clark, N.J. on May 12, 2013. Bail is set at $3 million. Police have arrested a man charged in the murder of a Philadelphia club disc jockey. Eighteen year old Josephe Murray allegedly shot Tom Watson, aka DJ Fenicx, on Saturday as Watson entered his apartment above the Haagen Dazs ice cream store on South Street. A second suspect in the shooting is being sought.

Four people were shot in Southwest Philadelphia Wednesday night. The incident happened on the 2600 block of South Daggett Street in the Elmwood section. An innocent person was hit by a stray bullet that went inside a home. Three others were also shot. Philadelphia Police rushed all four victims to the hospital.

Mayor Michael Nutter announced a funding package today that would give the Philadelphia School District $95 million in additional budget. That is significantly more than the $60 million the district requested to fill it's current budget gap. $22 million would come from raising the liquor-by-the-drink tax from 10 percent to 15 percent effective July 1st.
