NASCAR driver Jason Leffler has died after a crash during a Sprint Car race at Bridgeport Speedway in Swedesboro New Jersey last night. The 37 year old Leffler, nicknamed “LefTurn†a two time NASCAR winner, died in a heat race at the dirt car event. Lefler lost his NASCAR ride and had been racing dirt cars most of this year.

The ten-year-old, critically ill Delaware County girl whose desperate search for a donor lung captured national attention has undergone a successful surgery Wednesday. The family of Sarah Murnaghan of Newtown Square, Pa., says the six-hour lung transplant surgery at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia went smoothly and Sarah did extremely well. Now that Sarah has made it through surgery, her biggest risk for complications will be from rejection and infection.

An 18-inch long alligator was found near a sewer grate in the Fishtown section of the city Monday. Philadelphia's Animal Care and Control Team says police brought the animal to them. The alligator was docile until a man tried to get a closer look. That's when the hissing began. The gator will remain with Animal Control until a permanent home is found.

A child is dead after a fall from a window in West Philadelphia yesterday. It happened at an apartment complex in the Powelton section. A 22 month old boy was playing with his 3 year old sister while their mother was in another room. After the fall from the fifth story window, the child was rushed to Children’s Hospital and later pronounced dead.

A bill proposed in the New Jersey State Senate would permit police officers responding to a car accident to confiscate the cell phones of the drivers involved. The bill would also increase the penalty for sending text messages while driving. According to the bill, under current New Jersey law the penalty for driving while illegally using a cell phone is a $100 fine.

The home of Griffin Campbell was searched by detectives yesterday and came away with a box of evidence. Campbell is the contractor in charge of the demolition of the collapsed building in Philadelphia. His attorney says Campbell has never had an accident on a demolition job site, the excavating equipment was to be used for clean-up, not demolition, and that OSHA, the City and the Salvation Army inspected the site during demolition.
