Mayor Michael Nutter has declined an invitation to officiate a wedding of a same-sex Philadelphia couple. The two men who live in Center City obtained a marriage license from Montgomery County. D. Bruce Hanes, the register of the wills of Montgomery County, has been issuing licenses to same-sex couples since July claiming the 1996 Pennsylvania marriage law is unconstitutional. Chip Kelly made a good first impression last night in his NFL debut win as the Philadelphia Eagles new head coach. His upbeat attitude and personality extended to the sideline as well. Philadelphia police are searching for the suspect who was caught on surveillance video holding a gun to an employee's head during a robbery in Girard Estates. The incident occurred on August 29th at the Dollar Tree Store on Oregon Avenue when a man entered and walked to the rear of the store where he allegedly forced an employee at gunpoint to open a safe.

Authorities are blaming the parents after an emaciated 3-year-old girl died overnight at Einstein Medical Center. The girl, Nathalyz Rivera, was brought the the hospital shortly before 2 am. She weighed-in at only 11 pounds, instead of a normal 25-36 pounds. The medical examiner said that she showed "obvious signs of neglect" and ruled the death homicide through starvation. The teachers are teaching with larger class sizes and still negotiating over the 13 percent giveback in salary the city has requested. A new report claims one-quarter of New Jerseyans are living in poverty. More than two million people in New Jersey are struggling to meet their basic needs. The poorest county is Passaic, followed by Cumberland, Essex and Hudson, according to the report. The report also finds that children and Hispanics have suffered the most from increasing poverty.
