He sent a letter of resignation to the governor effective immediately. Union members have voted unanimously to strike if SEPTA does not come to an agreement. 1500 members of TWU Local 234 voted to authorize union leadership to call a strike. The largest union represents 4,700 bus drivers, subway and trolley operators, and maintenance workers at SEPTA. Since March they have been working under an expired contract.

| A student at a suburban Seattle high school opened fire in the cafeteria on Friday killing one and injuring several others as they ate lunch.
