John Timoney, 68, a former New York City police officer who became Philadelphia's police commissioner and an influential figure in law enforcement, died Tuesday after a battle with lung cancer. The body of a New Jersey mother who has been missing for months has been found and two people are under arrest. 41-year-old Tyrita Julius of Linden had been missing since March 8th when her friend, 33-year-old Jennifer Sweeney, supposedly dropped her off at the Long Branch train station. Former Philadelphia Mayor Michael Nutter is currently defending his administration against claims of his misuse of finances. City Controller Alan Butkovitz accused Nutter of financial mismanagement. Kane was found guilty yesterday on all nine counts in her perjury and obstruction trial held in Montgomery County.
