Two women made history in the Philadelphia Fire Department on Monday. Firefighter Linda Long has been promoted as the first female Fire Battalion Chief and Crystal Yates has become the first African-American woman to serve as the Chief of Paramedic Services. Long and Yates as well as 22 other firefighters were sworn into new positions on Monday at the Fire Academy in Northeast Philadelphia. A woman collapsed at the end of the Scranton Half Marathon on Sunday and later died in the hospital. 36-year-old Lindsay Doherty collapsed just after finishing the 13.1 mile race. Medical workers on scene tried to resuscitate her before she was transported to Geisinger Community Medical Center where she died. The Lackawanna County medical examiner plans to perform an autopsy. Philadelphia Police have arrested and charged two men in the shooting death of a teenage boy at a Chinese takeout restaurant last month. 19-year-old Tymear Johnson and 18-year-old Christopher Southerland are both charged with murder, criminal conspiracy and other related offenses. Johnson is accused of pulling the trigger and was arrested on Sunday. Southerland was arrested on March 22nd. Philadelphia Police are investigating after a shooting took place in North Philadelphia. The shooting took place on the 2900 block of North Fairhill Street just before 7 pm on Sunday. Police arrived on the scene and found a man with gun shot wounds to the arm and stomach. The victim was rushed to Temple University Hospital where he is listed in critical condition. Police are still investigating for a potential motive and the suspect wanted for the shooting.

A homeless man was rescued from a row house that collapsed in Southwest Philadelphia early Saturday morning. It happened around 2:45 a.m. Saturday on the 6100 block of Yocum Street. The home itself was one of several on the block tagged by Licenses and Inspections as eminently dangerous. The owner, S&C Management, got a court order to stop the demolition and had until April 5th to repair the property. The Camden County medical examiner has ruled that twin 7-month-old baby girls who were found unresponsive in their cribs died of natural causes, and not foul play. Jessenia and Juliana Rodriguez-Garnett were discovered by their mother, Alexandria Garnett, on March 22nd at Pines Apartments just off Bilper Avenue in Lindenwold.
