The Board of Education has selected Tony Watlington as the next Superintendent of the School District of Philadelphia. Watlington will replace William Hite on June 16. Hite has served at superintendent for 10 years. Watlington reportedly will have a 5-year $340,000 contract with an option for a sixth year. Watlington has 27 years of educational experience. Trenton officials announced on Wednesday, 3/30, the arrest of a man in the shooting death of a 9-year-old girl last Friday night, 3/25. 19-year-old Isiah Roberts is charged with murder, aggravated assault and gun violations in the death of SeQuoya Bacon-Jones.
