John Fetterman Suffers Stroke/Recovering; 16yo Shot in West Philly; Arch Wood Senior Runs Sub 4 Mile

Pennsylvania Lt. Governor John Fetterman suffered a stroke on Friday, May 13, while out on the campaign trail. He said in a statement, "On Friday. I wasn't feeing well. so I went to the hospital to get checked out... I had a stroke that was caused by a clot from my heart being in an A-flb rhythm for too long, Fortunately, Gisele spotted the symptoms and got me to the hospital within minutes." He was in Lancaster, PA, preparing for a campaign event at Millersville University. He was taken to Penn Medicine Lancaster General Hospital. Fetterman is currently the favorite to win the Democratic nomination for US Senate in Tuesday's, May 17, primary election. He will not be in attendance in his election day party on Tuesday in Pittsburgh as he'll still be recovering in the hospital. Fetterman is expected to make a full recovery.

On Friday, I wasnâ€™t feeling well, so I went to the hospital to get checked out.

A 16-year old was shot and critically injured in West Philadelphia on Monday afternoon, 5/16. It happened around 2:49 p.m. at the Parkside Shopping Center on the 1500 block of North 52nd Street. The boy was shot 7 times. He was hit four times in the stomach, twice in the chest, and once in the right shoulder. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in critical condition. Police believe this victim was targeted. The teen was a student at nearby KIPP DuBois Collegiate Academy on 5070 Parkside Avenue.

Archbishop Wood senior Gary Martin became the 1st Pennsylvania high school athlete to break the 4-minute mile. It happened at Philadelphia Catholic League Champs on Saturday, May 14, at Cardinal O'Hara high school in Springfield, Delaware County. Martin ran 3:57.98. He joins an exclusive club of high schoolers with a sub four-minute mile. Only 14 athletes have achieved that mark. Martin's time is the 6th fastest overall.
