Former Pennsylvania Attorney General Kathleen Kane surrendered to authorities on Friday, 4/29, after a bench warrant for her arrest on potential probation violations was issued by a Montgomery County judge on Thursday, 4/28. Kane is now at Montgomery County Correctional Facility. 55-year-old Kane is accused of DUI and crashing her car last month in Scranton. She told officers at the time that she was the designated driver and was picking up her sister at a bar. However, she failed a field sobriety test and refused to take a breathalyzer. Video surveillance from the restaurant shows Kane drinking shortly before they left. Refusal to take a breathalyzer in Pennsylvania automatically suspends your license for at least a year, regardless if you are found guilty of DUI. The former AG should know that. She is on probation following her perjury convictions during her time as AG.
A bouncer at a Center City bar who allegedly struck a man who later died from his injuries has surrendered to Philadelphia Police after an arrest warrant was issued on Thursday, 4/28. 24-year-old Kenneth Frye turned himself in around 2:20 p.m on Thursday. He is charged with third-degree murder. The incident happened around 1 a.m. on April 16 at the Tabu Lounge & Sports Bar on the 200 block of South 12th Street. Frye works as a bouncer through a security company contracted by the bar. On that night, 41-year-old Eric Pope was escorted from the bar for being intoxicated. Video surveillance shows Pope dancing around in the street before being struck by Frye. The exact events leading up to the punch are under investigation. Pope fell to the ground and was unconscious. He was taken to Jefferson Hospital. He died from his injuries on Sunday, April 24.
A woman was rescued after her car plunged into the Delaware River on the New Jersey side on Thursday afternoon, 4/28. It happened around 1 p.m. at Freedom Pier in Gloucester City, New Jersey. The car ended upside down in the water. Three Gloucester City police officers jumped in the water and pulled the water from the vehicle. Three other Good Samaritans on a boat transported the police officers and the woman to a nearby floating dock. The officers continued medical treatment until the medics arrived. The woman's current condition is not known.
