Carjacking Suspect Arrested After Chase; Armed Man Shot by Police; Bensalem Golden Corral Brawl

A carjacking suspect was in custody after leading Philadelphia Police on a wild chase involving two crashes and a second carjacking on Monday night, 1/31. Last week, the suspect allegedly went to the KIA dealership in Cherry Hill, NJ, and took a 2022 Kia Sorento for a test drive. During the test drive, he pulled a gun on the salesperson and took off in the vehicle. Police spotted that stolen car around 8 p.m. on Monday on the 1800 block of Germantown Avenue. The suspect fled when police attempted to pull him over. The suspect rear ended the Kia into a woman driving a Lexus on Adams Avenue and Crescentville Road. He pulled the woman from her vehicle and drove away in the Lexus. He crashed again into a parked car and another vehicle on the 5700 block of Tabor Avenue. This time the suspect fled on foot. He was apprehended on the 600 block of Brill Street. The 41-year-old suspect was taken to the hospital for observation. No one was seriously hurt. Watch the chase below:

A man was shot and injured by Philadelphia Police officers in the Fairmount neighborhood on Monday evening, 1/31. Police were called around 5 p.m. to the corner of 27th and Brown Streets for the report of a man with a gun. He had fired at least one shot into the front door of Krupa's Tavern. "Officers arrived and they saw an individual outside of a corner bar here and he was holding a handgun by his side. The officers exited their vehicle, drew their weapons and ordered the male multiple times to drop his weapon," Philadelphia Police Sgt. Eric Gripp said. The suspect did not comply and proceeded to fire at the officers who then returned fire. The suspect was hit once in the thigh. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Hospital in stable condition.

Police are investigating after a large brawl broke out inside a popular buffet restaurant in Bucks County on Friday afternoon, 1/28. It happened around 4:30 p.m. at the Golden Corral Buffet & Grill on the 1400 block of Street Road in Bensalem. The melee was caught on video and posted to social media. The exact cause is not yet known, but it seems to have started as an isolated argument over food. The fight quickly took over the dining room with patrons yelling and swinging chairs. No one was seriously injured. No arrests have been made at this time. The incident remains under investigation.

"We are aware of an unfortunate disturbance that started between two parties of guests at our franchise restaurant in Bensalem," said an emailed statement from franchisee JK Hospitality, LLC. "We notified the local authorities, and they are investigating the incident. Thankfully, no serious injuries have been reported. The safety of our guests and co-workers is our top priority."
