A suspect is now in custody after shooting a police chief during an hours-long standoff in Bucks County on Wednesday, 8/18. Bucks County District Attorney Matt Weintraub says that 24-year-old Colin Petroziello will be charged with attempted murder of a law enforcement officer and other offenses. It started after 11 a.m. at the Yardley Commons apartment complex near South Main Street in Yardley. Two probation officers went to check on Petroziello which turned into an argument. The officers called for assistance and Yardley Borough Police Chief Joseph Kelly responded to the call. He was shot in the hand and ear by a shotgun when he entered the apartment. Kelly was taken to St. Mary Medical Center and is expected to be ok. Police told residents to shelter-in-place and a nearby daycare was evacuated. The standoff lasted until after 4 p.m. when SWAT teams entered the apartment and took Petroziello into custody.

U.S. officials including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Health and Human Services, the National Institute of Health and other top medical experts are recommending that Americans get a third dose aka booster shot of the coronavirus COVID-19 vaccine 8-months after their received their 2nd dose. This applies to the Pfizer and Moderna vaccines. They are still working on the data for the Johnson and Johnson vaccine. The third doses would start on September 20. The Food and Drug Administration would still have to evaluate the safety and effectiveness of a third dose.

A suspect wanted in connection with a shooting in Bucks County was shot and killed by police in Philadelphia following a chase and shootout on Wednesday afternoon, 8/18. Around 3 p.m., authorities in Bucks County responded to the report of a shooting at an apartment complex at the 2000 block of Veterans Highway in Levittown. 29-year-old Terrence Bey of Philadelphia led police on a chase that continued onto Roosevelt Boulevard and into Philadelphia. The suspect opened fire on police in the area of Whitaker Street in the Crescentville neighborhood. Police returned fire. Bey was struck and killed. The Levittown shooting victim remains in the hospital in serious condition. No other injuries were reported.
