NJ Lifts Outdoor Mask Mandate; SEPTA to Remove Capacity Limits June 1; Warrington Hit-and-Run

New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy announced on Monday, 5/17, that he is lifting the outdoor mask mandate across the state effective immediately. However, the indoor mask mandate will stay in place for now, despite guidance from the CDC that says vaccinated people do not need masks indoors. Murphy also said that students will return to school full time this fall and there will be no virtual option.

Businesses large and small are still contending with the CDC's recommendations released last week that vaccinated people did not have to use a mask indoors or outdoors (unless state, local, or other restrictions remain in place). Pennsylvania has embraced the CDC recommendations, but many locations are not yet ready to allow patrons in without masks. Target, Walmart/Sam's Club, Trader Joe's, Costco, and Starbucks are a few that are allowing vaccinated people to enter sans-mask. Of course, it's all on the honor system that you have been vaccinated.

SEPTA announced that starting June 1 it will be lifting all pandemic related capacity limits on all its vehicles. SEPTA said it was making the move "as COVID-19 cases across the region drop, more people get vaccinated, and the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the City of Philadelphia ease indoor capacity related restrictions." Riders will still have to wear masks according to CDC guidance for all people when using public transportation. "This decision is part of our ongoing efforts to support the region's recovery as businesses and government agencies announce return to office plans for employees, students resume in-person classes, and capacity limits are eased for stores and restaurants," SEPTA says.

You can check the available seats on your next bus using SEPTA's new tool. It will be expanded to other forms of transit in the coming months. https://www.septa.org/seat-availability/

Police in Warrington, Bucks County are investigation a hit-and-run. It happened around 8:30 p.m. Saturday, 5/15, near the intersection of Route 152 and Upper State Road. The vehicle is believed to be a silver or grey Honda Accord. It would be missing its front bumper which was left at the scene. It has a 76ers vanity plate attached (see picture below). Anyone with information should call police at (215) 343-3311.
