Pennsylvania state Representative Brian Sims announced on Monday, 2/15, that he will be running for Lieutenant Governor in 2022. Sims currently represents the 182nd District which includes portions of Center City and South Philadelphia. He was elected to the House in 2012 as the body's first openly LGBT member. Incumbent Lt. Gov. John Fetterman has already announced that he is seeking the U.S. Senate seat that will be vacated by the retiring Pat Toomey. Sims has been in the middle of a number of controversies over the years. Most notably in May 2019 when he videoed himself yelling at a mother and children praying near an abortion clinic, in 2017 when he was the subject of an ethics investigation (three technical violations), and last year when he called out Republicans' handling of COVID cases in the House.

Delaware County authorities are still searching for a man that opened fire in a Walmart on Sunday morning, 2/14. It happened at the store on MacDade Blvd in Glenolden around 8:30 a.m. after an argument between the shooter and an employee possible over a video game. No one was injured. "From what we received at the store this is just a random act. These two did not know each other. It was some sort of verbal argument that the suspect had with the employee possibly over a video game sale," said Darby Township Police Chief Mike Sousa. SWAT and police then spent hours staked outside the suspect's house on Main Street in Darby, but the man ended up not being home. Police have seized both of his vehicles. "He's either possibly on foot or somebody picked him up," said Sousa. "The subject I would say is armed and possibly dangerous." His identity has not been released.

UPDATE: Police have identified the suspect as 28-year-old Devante Dixon. He's described as 5' 7" and 175 lbs.

A Delaware man has been arrested for a series of jewelry heists in New Jersey and is suspected of others in other states. 22-year-old Michael Larbi of Dover was taken into custody by U.S. Marshals last week. He is being held in a Delaware prison pending extradition to New Jersey. He is currently accused of three robberies that occurred in October and November 2020. On October 28 at Billig Jewelers in Marlton, Larbi told staff he was going to propose to his girlfriend. He was holding three rings valued at $77,420 when he ran from the store and into a black BMW. On Nov. 2 at David Arlen Jewelers in Hainesport, a man stole two rings worth $2,800 and fled in a black BMW. Finally on Nov. 5 in Haddon Heights, a suspect dressed the same as the previous two robberies stole a box of diamonds worth $97,000 and fled in a black BMW. Larbi posted pictures to Facebook wearing the same outfit, watch, and belt buckle as the suspect in all three robberies. Investigators are aware of five similar robberies in New Jersey and Pennsylvania, three others in Maryland, and one in Delaware.
