KELLY CENTER IN HAVERTOWN RE-OPENING FOR LIVE SHOWS
Kicking off with Halfway to St. Patrick's Day Celebration
Havertown, PA - After months of silence due to the ongoing pandemic, the Kelly Center in Havertown is about to power up the sound system and resume live concerts. While audience sizes inside the Kelly Center will be very limited to allow for safe, comfortable distancing, and masks will be required to enter, many see this as an important step in a return toward normalcy.
Forced to close entirely in March due to COVID-19, parent non-profit, Kelly Music for Life has endured a difficult six months with no indoor shows. Exponentially multiplying the pain, its five annual outdoor fundraising music festivals in Haverford Township were cancelled as well.
"Performers and audiences suffered as much as the businesses," according to Tom Kelly, Chairman and Executive Director. "Back in March, all of our livelihoods were disrupted. We scrambled to find ways to help the performers while delivering music and comedy to fans trapped at home."
Early in the pandemic, Kelly Music for Life embraced Live Streaming on its Facebook and YouTube channels enabling performers to do shows from their own homes. Audiences responded by watching and making donations during the streamed Music and Comedy shows. With live shows resuming, Kelly plans to continue streaming shows for those viewers who may not be ready to return to an indoor venue. The Kelly Center is installing a 3 camera system and plans to stream all of its upcoming shows for the at-home audience.
For fans, live streaming and video is better than having nothing at all, but it doesn't measure up to the live, in-person experience. As Kelly explains, "Live experiences provide engagement that simply cannot be captured on video. The live art experience generates feelings that can't be duplicated. Being there is magical and much more valuable."
To welcome patrons of the Arts back to the venue, the Kelly Center will provide complimentary beer, wine and seltzers to 21 and older ticketholders at most shows for the remainder of the year.
Performers will be on the Kelly Center stage for these shows. Available tickets will be determined by current PA regulations as well as the comfort level of the performers.
Dylan McGuire and Kristen Conrad re-open the Kelly Center this Saturday 9/26 with DK Duo plus 2 for a Night of Irish Rock. Other confirmed performers for 2020 include Ben Arnold, Christine Havrilla, Scott McClatchy, Mark Lipsky Comedy, Scot Sax and Suzie Brown, Katie Barbato, Nothing But a Nightmare, Edge Hill Rounders, Denise Moser, Rob Simpson, Steve Butler and Edward Rogers, Nita Slater, Virginia Jennings, Josh Gilbert, Keith Shaw, Vincent James, Peeks Pammie Cobaugh, Kate Assiran, Chris Magee and more. Limited tickets will be available for indoor shows through the end of the year. Viewers can also watch the Live Streams
