| Delco Paramedic Dies From COVID-19; Foles Believe Foundation Donates; Reading Market Pauses Delivery |

A first responder from Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital in Lansdowne, Delaware County, has died from coronavirus COVID-19. 33-year-old Kevin Bundy passed away on Sunday night, 4/12, after several days in the hospital. Bundy had worked as a paramedic at Mercy Fitzgerald since 2016.
"Paramedic Bundy was a dedicated and respected member of Mercy Fitzgerald Hospital, especially during his recent service to the community serving during the COVID-19 pandemic. Council extends condolences to his loved ones, his colleagues at Mercy Fitzgerald and members of the EMS community," Delaware County Council Public Relations Director Adrienne Marofsky said in a statement.
"Kevin really represented a generation of young people that are coming forward to serve in their communities. They're stepping up, especially in the medical field. Kevin recently graduated from the academy as a paramedic just three years ago, which is not an easy class. He took that on and he went out and served in our most difficult neighborhoods," Delaware County Emergency Management Director Tim Boyce said. "To everyone who knew him, he was a happy guy, he had a good sense of humor and he loved what he was doing in serving people."
Former Philadelphia Eagles Super Bowl MVP QB Nick Foles' foundation announced nine grants to food banks across the country. Foles Believe Foundation chose recipients in cities associated with the quarterback's career including Philadelphia, Jacksonville, Chicago, Los Angeles (Rams), and his home state Texas. In the Philadelphia-area he chose to send grants to Philabundance and the Food Bank of South Jersey. The others include Central Texas Food Bank, Feeding Northeast Florida, Feeding Texas,, Greater Chicago Food Depository, Lakeview Pantry, Mariners Church, and Orange County Rescue Mission. A statement from the foundation read, "Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone during this challenging time. We hope these grants will help ease the burden on the food banks and the people they serve. Please join in our effort! He replied to them, 'The one who has two shirts must share with someone who has none, and the one who has food must do the same.' -Luke 3:11"

Reading Terminal Market has suspended delivery services starting Tuesday morning, 4/14, until Monday, 4/20, to work on issues with the ordering system. Reading Terminal Market first started its e-commerce/delivery service using Mercato in November 2018. It had grown to approximately 50 orders/day by early March 2020. Last week in the lead up to Easter, the market was receiving 8,000 to 10,000 orders/day. The fulfillment system was not able to adapt to such an exponential growth in orders, leading to errors and incomplete/erroneous orders. They will take this week to work with Mercato to make changes and improvements to the system. In a statement from Reading Terminal Market, "This Market has served the Philadelphia public through the Great Depression, two World Wars and many other societal upheavals. We are intent on serving the public however long the COVID-19 crisis lasts and we are absolute to do it right."
