The Archdiocese of Philadelphia announced on Wednesday, 3/25, that the suspension of the celebration of all public Masses in the Archdiocese will continue until further notice and at least through Easter Sunday, 4/12. This means that all masses during Holy Week and Easter Sunday will not be held publicly. That includes Palm Sunday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, and Holy Saturday (Easter Vigil). Palms will still be blessed and made available to the public at a later date. Priests will continue to offer Holy Mass privately and honor all Mass intentions. Sunday masses (11 a.m.) and the Sacred Paschal Triduum will continue to be streamed at www.archphila.org.

The Delaware River Port Authority announced that they will be going to cashless tolls starting Thursday, 3/26, at 6 a.m. The DRPA runs the Ben Franklin, Walt Whitman, Betsy Ross and Commodore Barry Bridges. All traffic should go through the E-ZPass lanes. If you do not have an E-ZPass, a picture will be taken of your license plate and you will get a bill in the mail for the toll. The Delaware Memorial Bridge is also going cashless. That starts at 12:01 a.m. on Thursday, 3/26. Similarly, if you do not have E-ZPass, you will get a bill in the mail for the toll.

The South Jersey Transportation Authority will stop collecting cash along the Atlantic City expressway. Either coins in exact change or E-ZPass. Those without E-ZPass will be charged by license plate. The New Jersey Turnpike Authority made similar changes on the NJ Turnpike and Garden State Parkway.

An emergency bill being voted on today in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives will ensure that teachers get paid despite school being closed. Anyone employed by a school on March 13 will get paid the same as if the coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic did not happen. Governor Tom Wolf ordered all schools in the state to close on March 13. That order lasts until at least April 6. The bill also includes a waiver of the state's mandate to include a minimum of 180 instructional days in the school year. Schools would not have enough time to make up all the missed days, especially if the closures extend past April 6. The House is voting remotely for the first time ever. If it passes, the bill would go to the PA Senate.

UPDATE: The Emergency School Code Bill passed both the House and Senate and is now on its way to Governor Tom Wolf's desk where it is expected to be signed.
