2018 Firefly Music Festival Review Day 4 Sunday: MGMT, SZA, Kendrick Lamar

Sunday was the 4th and final day here at the Firefly Music Festival in Dover and it sure was a great day to end this fantastic festival. The sun was shining strong with temperatures in the high 80s, but that didn't keep the festival goers from enjoying the music playing all around. Starting off on the Main stage today was veteran rapper Warren G. Although the fans may have been beat from the festivities over the past 3 days, they did not slow down in the slightest during his set. Warren G may not be as young from when he started out, but he still knows how to put on one heck of a show, especially one to open up the Main stage.

Countless other acts took to the various stages at Firefly in the early afternoon, some of them being: Scottish singer/songwriter Lewis Capaldi who played at the Backyard stage, L.A. synth pop duo Courtship. on the Lawn stage and the pop duo Terror Jr. on the Main stage. Later on in the day over on the Lawn stage was up and coming singer/ songwriter Alice Merton. She has had a huge success this past year with the release of her single "No Roots" which she also performed during her set. Although Merton may be a newcomer to the festival, she sure seemed like a veteran on the stage.

Over on the Main stage, L.A. based Saxophonist Kamashi Washington took the stage and graced the crowd with his soulful tones and melodies. Kicking off the evening shows was Australian pop singer Betty Who. Along with her band, the singer was accompanied by backup dancers with shirts that read "Who the F*ck is Betty Who." Up on the main stage was indie rock band MGMT. The guys of MGMT put on an amazing show accompanied by extraordinary graphics on stage. They featured plenty of their popular songs including "Time to Pretend," "Electric Feel" and "Kids" all off their debut album "Oracular Spectacular." The band had the festival goers moving and grooving to their funky tunes.

Two other headliners took the stage later on, UK rock band Alt-J played the Lawn stage and rising R&B artist SZA played the Backyard stage. Both played amazing sets that got the festival goers ready for the final headliner of the festival, Kendrick Lamar. The Compton based rapper put on one heck of a show for the thousands of people in the crowd. His energy on stage was infectious, there was not a single body standing still in the crowd. Kendrick opened up his show with the song "DNA" off of his 2017 album "DAMN." which got the crowd roaring. He also featured other songs off of his 2012 album "good kid, m.A.A.d city" including "Swimming Pools (Drand)," "Money Trees" and "B*tch Don't Kill My Vibe." For his final song, Kendrick performed his hit single off "Damn," "HUMBLE." He started off rapping the song but once the hook came around he left it up to the crowd. He then proceeded to let the crowd rap the rest of the song acappella. Kendrick expressed his gratitude towards his fans for knowing the song by heart, he then proceeded to start the song over again and perform the full version. Kendrick Lamar's set was definitely one to go down into the Firefly books, it was an amazing way to close out the main stage for the festival.

Finishing up the festival with the late night act was EDM duo Odesza. The duo filled the festival grounds with hard hitting beats and a spectacular light show. This year's 2018 Firefly Music Festival was one to go down in Firefly history, with the spectacular weather, the enthusiastic festival goers and the countless amazing performances from some of the biggest names in the music industry.
