2017 Firefly Music Festival Review Day 4 Sunday: Thirty Seconds To Mars, The Shins, Muse

Today marked the last day of the 2017 Firefly Music Festival out here in the Woodlands at Dover Downs in Dove,r Delaware, and it was by far the most beautiful and stacked day of them all. The sun was out and shining bright, some clouds did pass by though to give the festival goers some nice shade to cool off in. The temperatures were in the 90's today so everyone was feeling the heat. Throughout the day, the vendors in the festival were spraying the crowds nearby with water guns to help keep everyone nice and cool.

To kick things off this afternoon at 1:00 pm on the Main Stage was veteran and hip-hop legend Busta Rhymes. Although Busta was 25 minutes late for his set, he still gave the crowd what they wanted. Himself, his hype man Spliff Starr, and DJ Scratchchat got the crowd bumping to some of Busta's old school hits as well as some present day music. The crowd seemed to forgive Busta for being late after he put on an amazing set.

Next up on the Backyard Stage at 2:00 pm, was Philly native singer and collaborator ROZES. ROZES, who maybe most known for her collaboration with The Chainsmokers in their song "Roses," took the stage and immediately made a connection with the crowd. She maybe new to Firefly this year, but it sure didn't seem like it the way she was making the crowd move and sway with her music.

Moving on over to the Main Stage, Folk Rock group The Strumbellas took over at 2:45 pm. The Strumbellas dominated the stage with their catchy tunes and great sense of humor. Lead singer Simon Ward put on an emotional performance during the set and honored the song up to his Father, as Sunday was Fathers Day. The group ended off with their hit "Spirits" which was an awe-inspiring performance to say the least.

Next to jump on the Backyard Stage at 3:45 pm was New York rapper Waka Flocka Flame who definitely got any of the tired festival goers on their feet and jumping around. His set was full of high intensity bass drops and a lot of crowd interaction. He even helped cool some of the audience off by throwing out open water bottles into the pit.

Moving back to the Main Stage at 4:45 pm was New Jersey natives Bleachers. The boys of Bleachers played many of their hits including "I Wanna Get Better," "Rollercoaster," and "Don't Take The Money." Lead singer Jack Antonoff even brought out his father to help play a song with them in honor of Fathers Day.

Heading over to the Lawn Stage at 5:45 was Misterwives. The members came out to the stage all dressed in very colorful clothes and helped rock into the early evening with the festival goers. Lead singer Mandy Lee was jumping and hopping all around the stage as per usual, bringing plenty of high energy to the crowd to help warm them up for the beginning headliner, Thirty Seconds To Mars.

Jared Leto and his fellow band members took over the Main Stage at 6:45 pm and put on one hell of a show. Leto really knows how to work the crowd. He picked two people out of the crowd to come up and dance on stage while they performed. Funny enough, both guys that came up were also named Jared and were from Philadelphia. Thirty Seconds To Mars played many of their classic hits, including, "City Of Angels", "Kings and Queens", "This is War" and an acoustic version of "The Kill (Bury Me)." Right before the start of their last song, Leto invited around 25 fans to come join him onstage to close out the show. He told the crowd to go insane during their last song, and sure enough they did. People were on other people's shoulders, tons of crowd-surfing was going on, it was mayhem, but Leto was loving it.

Veteran Alternative Rock band The Shins took over the Lawn Stage at 8:00 pm and indie Electro Pop band, Phantogram, took the Backyard Stage at 8:15 pm. Both groups gave it their absolute all and warmed up the crowd for Muse.

The members of Muse took the Main Stage at 9:15 pm and really made Firefly go out with a bang. They had a spectacular light show and even better music bumping throughout the festival. The boys of Muse got the crowd pumped up for the last headlining show of Firefly 2017. The light show they put on was absolutely stunning, and the music was even better. The featured many hit songs including "Resistance", "Hysteria" and "Supermassive Black Hole." They even played their newest single released last month, "Dig Down."

Over all it was an amazing way to close out the festival. All in all the 2017 Firefly Music Festival was an amazing time, there were so many great bands and a lot of memorable moments throughout. The weather held out perfectly for the weekend, although sometimes it was a little too humid, it was still better than a rainy festival. It was another great year at Firefly and I know everyone, including myself is ready to see what the festival has in store for us next year.
