Temple's Pick For New Head Coach, Eagle's Jon Dorenbos Out For Season, MLB Hazing Policy

Sources have now stated that Temple will pick the University of Florida's defensive coordinator Geoff Collins as their new head football coach. After Matt Rhule left the Owls last week to coach at Baylor, Temple has been looking through potential candidates for the head coach position. Over Collins' career he has been a defensive coordinator for the past 7 years starting at Florida International (2010), then Mississippi State (2011-2014) and most recently at University of Florida (2015-2016). Over the past two years with Collins as defensive coordinator, the Gators have been ranked sixth and seventh nationally in total defense. Collins also has experience as an assistant coach at UCF, Georgia Tech, Western Carolina, Albright College, and Fordham. Collins is the fourth consecutive coach who has had no previous head coaching experience before coming to Temple.

The Eagles long snapper Jon Dorenbos will now be out for the remainder of the season after he had a surgery on his wrist Sunday night. The injury happened in Sunday's game against the Redskins. During an Eagles punt in the third quarter Dorenbos was hit from behind by Redskins linebacker Houston Bates. Dorenbos was then taken out for the remainder of the game to have his wrist examined on the sideline. No flag was thrown for the play. Dorenbos was replaced by tight end Brent Celek, and then Celek was replaced by tight end Trey Burton. The Eagles are in the process of picking a new long-snapper for the rest of the season. One of the names included is John DePalma who has been with the Eagles during the off season.

Major League Baseball has now announced that it is now banning the ritual hazing of rookies dressing up as famous women. The MLB created an Anti-Hazing and Anti-Bullying policy that would ban the ritual. The policy would prohibit "coercing or encouraging players from dressing up as women or wearing costumes that may be offensive to individuals based on their race, sex, nationality, age, sexual orientation, gender identify or other." MLB Vice President Paul Mifsud stated "In light of social media, which in our view sort of unfortunately publicized a lot of the dressing up of the players... those kind of things which in our view were insensitive and potentially offensive to a number of groups." The tradition will be banned starting next season.
