The Eagles sideline was heated on Sunday afternoon after Redskin's safety Deshazor Everett laid a brutal hit on a defenseless Darren Sproles early in the fourth quarter. With just 12 minutes left in the quarter, Sproles was sprinting up field to catch a Redskin's punt. While Sproles was tracking the ball in the air, Everett full on tackled Sproles. Most of the impact went to his head, and he shot backwards, landing on the turf hard. Sporles was then taken out of the game and was examined for a head injury. A penalty was given to Washington, giving 15 yards to the Eagles. Everett said that it wasn't an intentional hit, saying "Football is a split-second game, and unfortunately I did not make the right decision, but I was just giving my full effort to go out there and make a tackle" Many Eagles players are still heated over the issue. Tight end Zach Ertz stated "Obvious cheap shot." "Darren was trying to field the ball, the guy hits him before the ball gets there," "I've honestly never seen the guy before, didn't know who he was going into the game, and if that's how he wants to make a name for himself, then so be it."

The Flyers have now extended their winning streak to 9 games after they beat the Red Wings 1-0 Sunday night in what might be their last game in Joe Louis Arena in Detroit. They Flyers 9-game win streak is the longest of any team in the NHL this season, and is their longest win streak since 1995. Rookie Goalie Anthony Stolarz, who made his second start for the Flyers last night and showed great composure in goal, managed to make 28 stops during the game. Brayden Schenn scored the winning goal with a backhand from out front with 2 minutes and 16 seconds left in overtime. When asked how he felt about the win last night, Stolarz stated "I couldn't have drawn it up any better, When you're a kid dreaming of playing in the NHL, this is something you can't even put into words. I'm excited, but even more excited to keep the win streak going." Next, the Flyers take on the Avalanche this Wednesday.

Hockey icon, former NHL player, and former coach of the Flyers, Bill Dineen died Saturday in his home in Lake George, New York. Dineen played a total of 324 games in the NHL with the Detroit Red Wings, as well as the Chicago Blackhawks. Dineen was part of two Stanley Cup Championship teams in Detroit. After retiring as a player he went on to coach teams in the WHA from 1972-1978, then to coach some of the AHL teams, and was inducted into the AHL Hall of Fame back in 2014. Dineen was head coach of the Flyers from 1991-1993, and was able to coach his son Kevin Dineen. NHL commissioner Bettman said in a statement "Bill Dineen devoted his career to our sport, winning two Stanley Cups with the Detroit Red Wings, shaping the lives of numerous players during decades of coaching and crafting a hockey legacy that carries on today through his sons. The National Hockey League sends heartfelt condolences to the Dineen family on the passing of this distinguished and greatly respected individual."
