Music News - Duran Duran New Track; Tony Bennett Recording New Album; New Diplo Track 'Set Me Free'

Duran Duran has released a new track off their upcoming album Paper Gods due out September 18th. The electro-pop ballad is titled "What Are The Chances." They've previously released singles "Pressure Off" and "You Kill Me With Silence." In this track, lead singer Simon Le Bon wonders about the workings of fate and destiny, choice or predetermination. The new album will be the 14th for the band. It features guest spots from Mark Ronson, Nile Rodgers, Janelle Monae, Mr. Hudson, Mew's Jonas Bjerre, Kiezsa, guitarist John Frusciante and Lindsay Lohan. Tony Bennett has teamed up with jazz pianist Bill Charlap on a new album called The Silver Lining: The Songs of Jerome Kern. The album celebrates Kern's catalog of musical theater and pop compositions. Kern wrote over 700 songs before his death in 1945 including many Hollywood and Broadway tunes. The Silver Lining will feature 14 tracks. Some will be piano pieces, others will be piano duets with Charlap's wife Renee Rosnes, and several involve a trio with bassist Peter Washington and drummer Kenny Washington. The 89-year-old Bennett just keeps recording and reviving the Great American Songbook. His duet album with Lady Gaga, Cheek To Cheek, won a Grammy last year. Look for this new one on September 25th.

Philadelphia DJ/Producer Diplo has just released a new track with party video called "Set Me Free" featuring Liz. This track is on super speed, glitchy, and breaking pace only for the dub step drops. The catchy hook will have you singing along after the first listen and you'll be dancing right away. If it sounds like Madonna's latest "Bitch I'm Madonna" well that's because Diplo produced that track as well. Have fun with it, it's well done and has all the right elements for a great dance track. You'll be hearing this one in the clubs for the next few weeks.
