Objectively for me, no! I do have this 'habit' of listening to an artist, in particular a full album/cd release straight thru!!!! Besides, 'listening' to one of the 'programmed stations' is like taking someone's 'shuffled i-pod' and going that route. MORESO I loathe those contraptions.....so......viva la front to back start to finish lp/cd!

Rob -

I agree, there is something special about listening to a full album straight through. (also see. Record Store Day in Philadelphia, Saturday April 16th). The track sequencing, transitions, themes, concepts, artistically come as a package from one artist's vision. Nowadays the album as a full concept can be lost on some artists, but many still put out a complete work and not just a collection of singles.

Unfortunately, iradiophilly is not a music warehouse though. Actually, we can't play full albums according to the DMCA. We are 18 radio stations geared towards Philadelphia. They aren't just big playlists on shuffle either. Music, news, weather, sports, are all carefully curated everyday.

The one thing that listening to iradiophilly stations will get you that you won't get from listening to your own collection is new music discovery. Unless you listen to something that you bought but never opened (given your collection's size, it's possible), you won't find something new in your own collection. iradiophilly is always adding new music from emerging and established artists on most of our stations.

Anyway, it may be impossible to convince you to listen to our radio stations. You have more than enough albums to last you years without ever having to listen to anything else, but it brings up a good point. Why listen to the radio if you can just listen to your CD collection? Radio can provide a live connection to the time and the place and the rest of the people listening at that moment, and be your friend, and be alive and take you through your day.

Listening to an album front to back is a wonderful journey. Engaging with your radio station is also living experience.
