| Concert Review + Set List: Disclosure at Union Transfer 6/6/14 Philadelphia |

'I can feel it, I can sense it...something was about to happen...'
Truer words were never spoken. These simple words were preached by the same voice from their "Intro" track and launched the night into a feel-good, hypnotic dance frenzy as the international dance music duo Disclosure set the night off right.
The Lawrence brothers were finally able to take on Philadelphia's Union Transferafter they had to postpone a sold-out October 29th show due to their nomination for the Mercury Music Prize, an award that would send them out to London around the same time as last year's Philly show. Despite disappointed fans, Disclosure came back with a vengeance and at last pleased a crowd of patient and admiring devotees.
I want to take a moment and put my heart out for those of you who couldn’t attend this show. This duo has been doing amazing things this past year on an international level, playing at sold out venues and huge festivals like Coachella and this weekend’s Governor’s Ball. Even the night before the Philadelphia show,
tickets for their show at Output in Brooklyn were being offered for last minute resale at over $100 per ticket.
Directly after the short intro, Disclosure’s more well-known song “F For You†swept the crowd into an hour and a half set of house, UK garage, and blissful R&B vocals. The two stood on either side of the stage, silhouetted by a three-screen backdrop of quick, flashing images of the famed Disclosure face. A little over two minutes into the first song, Disclosure switched the track over to their newer version of “F For You†featuring Mary J. Blige.
The crowd didn’t stop jumping and dancing around the two-tier venue as Disclosure continued to perform numerous tracks from their Grammy-nominated album Settle. Their entire set was accompanied by their work between their laptops, live drum kits, basses, vocals and synths. Their visuals blended well with the mood of each song with blue strobe lights and geometric diamonds and orbs for “White Noise†featuring AlunaGeorge, and a green and yellow hue with three looming signature faces for “What's In Your Head?â€. The dance floor itself surged with individuals grooving and moving, and phone-fixated fans taking photos and videos. At one point one fan shouted out “Put your goddamn phones away and enjoy the music!†He had a good point…
Near the end of the show, the two closed off the final note of “Help My Lose My Mind†and the stage turned black, causing the crowd to completely go ballistic as everyone screamed, clapped, and whistled for an encore. Disclosure obliged, returning to end the night with their current hottest track “Latch". The signature Disclosure face returned on the back screen, coming to life as it sang along with the song and well… every single person in the room.
Overall, after finally seeing these guys perform, it was all so so so worth the wait. You just can’t blame them for having to cancel the October show because they were nominated for an award. It just goes to show just how good these guys are. From here on out, Disclosure will be continuing their tour, jumping around from the US Midwest and back onto their native grounds in Europe. Be sure to keep following these guys; they’re doing incredible work this year and you don’t want to be missing out.
