On March 22nd at 7PM, Vinyl Revival hosted another 1st Friday concert featuring local artists. This week the line up was: No Stranger, Arcadia on The Horizon, and Aron Deming. This was an acoustic evening with a mix of original compositions and covers. All the seats in the venue were filled with a mixture of family, friends, fans and local music lovers.

First up was No Stranger, a young man named Jonathan Cooney. He did all original work that was passionate and at times whimsical and funny. He did nine numbers many are on his EP Onward. He is an accomplished picker, playing some complex and interesting riffs. My favorites were "Alone in a Double-Sized Bed” and “When It All Subsides." As the titles suggest these are songs about love, rejection, loneliness and the search for connection. He has an EP titled Onward, you can hear and purchase it at nostranger.Bandcamp.com.

The second act was Acadia on The Horizon, a unique combination of music and humor. Kevin Duune and Brandon Cole did a performance that consisted of six songs of which three were covers. They are fans of U2 and Dave Mathews and you can hear that influence in their music. They did a great job on "The Warmth" by Incubus, a hopeful and powerful song about the ups and downs of life. The other part of their act was somewhat unintentional, being very funny. They had the audience in stitches, belly laughs! The range of humor was also impressive, from jokes about their weight to a piece on how the Coen Brothers ought to do a film about the two of them telling the story of two guys who clean a gym. They played off the Coen Brothers movies, including "Inside Llewyn Davis", Flo & Eddie watch out!!

The third act was Aaron Deming a flexible and polished performer. He has a strong vocal style yet he has the ability to put his own sensitive spin on a tune. He did a remarkable job on "Tears In Heaven." Covering Eric Clapton can be dangerous, but his sensitive style and fine voice hit the mark. I do not know if this song was on his list for the night? He and I were talking about that song before the show, coincidence, maybe? He did six songs my favorite was "Around Your Love." You can listen to and buy this song on iTunes and see him perform it on YouTube.

Come and visit Vinyl Revival on Lansdowne Ave. and look at all the albums. Nothing like going through the albums and seeing one that just grabs you, open it up, see the album art and inserts, read who played on the record, who produced it. Search their records for sale on Amazon or eBay or visit their web or Facebook page. Vinyl Revival Records
