The Philadelphia based rock and funk band Blue Apple Groove held their record release show at The Ardmore Music Hall. A bitter cold Friday night for the up and coming music venue in Ardmore saw some energetic live music and conditions were definitely right for dancing fun. Supporting the show were also the funky jazz masters Green Eggs and Jam, and the alternative rock delights Vilebred. The lineup served to be very compatible and the bands meshed together very well.

Starting the show was Green Eggs and Jam with a great sense of funk, rock and reggae the band made an awesome start to the event and proved to be on point with fantastic musicianship. Lead guitarist and vocalist Tim Mudgett carried the tunes in a very cool manner, effortlessly singing and carrying melody throughout the set. Eric Stover on keys provided an atmosphere of well written songs such as 'Dirty Windows.' The ability of the band to go from pure incredible funk to classic rock to ingenious reggae is remarkable. Throughout the set the band did a cover of The Beatles tune 'Taxman' with a loose jam sound. Tom Noone played drums with immense clarity and sense of timing, with Dave Petrea playing along on bass. Green Eggs and Jam surely offered a hefty serving of rock and roll.

The Ardmore Music Hall is a beautiful music venue and has a great atmosphere. With a perfect location, right on Lancaster Ave, there is a definite excitement to have a top notch music venue in the heart of Delaware County. The layout at The Ardmore Music Hall resembles a classic music hall with a full sized bar and dining tables in the room. The acoustic sound is incredible, with a high end sound system The Ardmore Music Hall is ready for rock and roll. Very interesting to see how the venue grows as time progresses, we’ll be hearing more about this concert hall gem as more shows are planned.

Next on stage was five-piece musicians extraordinaire Vilebred, fronted by guitarist and vocalist Sam Vile. Vilebred has recently celebrated a release of a new album appropriately entitled Skeleton Melodies. With infectious and tribal-esque rhythm provided by Will Donahue on drums the band makes dancing no option but a necessity. Songs like 'Denglisch' highlight the band’s ability to nod the 1990's with great sense of alternative rock and energetic sound. Vilebred highlights on their fantastic dynamic as a full band throughout their set with powerful songs like 'Hot Tamale', characteristic of driven bass provided by Dug Gillin. Beautiful harmony vocals and keyboard are provided by singer/songwriter Chelsea Sue Allen and make for a brilliant vision within the band. Strong and astonishing, Vilebred continues to climb to the forefront of notable local bands making a name for themselves and supporting the music community. The last song of their set was a creative version of "White Rabbit" by Jefferson Airplane.

The time came for headliners Blue Apple Groove to take the stage and did they ever. Consisting of several members, Blue Apple Groove had a full sound of great rock and roll. Highlighting on various instruments such as saxophone and flute, the band definitely shared an eclectic sound. Lead guitar provided by Jimmy Faber proved to be a magnificent display of extreme showmanship. Lead vocals and acoustic guitar by Jarrett Muzi made way for perfect sing-a-longs and engaging the crowd. Mid set the band introduced a few more band members, such as the ever talented Steve Ciannavei on bass guitar. You can check out Blue Apple Groove this Saturday, January 11th at The Ardmore Music Hall for the Music for The Arts Fundraiser.
