All- American Tyrann Mathieu dismissed from LSU football team

"This is a very difficult day for our team. We lose a quality person, teammate and contributor to the program. However, with that being said, we have a standard that our players are held to and when that standard is not met, there are consequences," said coach Les Miles Friday about All- American Tyrann Mathieu. Mathieu, also known as the Honey Badger for his exciting style of play and the 2011 Heisman Trophy winner, was dismissed from the National Championship runner up team on Friday for a violation of the program. Mathieu was suspended last year for a violation of team rules only to return after the one game for the biggest game of the year, the Alabama game. Miles went on to say, "It's hard because we all love Tyrann. We will do what we can as coaches, teammates, and friends to get him on a path where he can have success. We are going to miss him." Mathieu's options are this; He could stay at LSU and wait for the draft next year or he could transfer either to another Division 1-AA school and sit out a year or to a Division 1-A school and play right away. The Tigers, ranked No. 1 in the preseason USA Today Sports Coaches' poll last week, will now have huge shoes to fill moving on with their upcoming season.
