Various religious groups filed a federal lawsuit protesting Philadelphia's ban on feeding the homeless outside in the city's public parks, on the grounds it violates the First Amendment and Pennsylvania's Religious Freedom Protection Act. The ACLU and the law firm of Kairys, Rudovsky, Messing & Feinberg, LLP filed the suit on behalf of Chosen 300 Ministries, the Welcome Church, the King’s Jubilee, and Philly Restart. These groups among others have been operating free food programs along the Ben Franklin Parkway. They say the ban has less to due about public health and more to do about public image around the museum tourist area. They say the ban violates their free exercise of religion and freedom of speech.

An 18-year-old Temple University football player has been charged with rape. Freshmen Temple football player Praise Martin-Oguike has been suspended from the team. The incident happened Saturday, May 26, Memorial Day Weekend in Martin-Oguike's fourth floor dorm room at Temple's 1940 residence hall.
